Dr Alex Baker, UEA, Norwich, U.K. Alex Baker is a Reader in Marine and Atmospheric Chemistry at the School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia, UK. He has a Ph.D. in Marine Chemistry from the University of Southampton and has been working on chemical exchange at the air-sea boundary for the last 20 years. A major theme of Alex’s research is the characterisation and quantification of the supply of important nutrients, such as nitrogen, phosphorus and iron from the atmosphere to the ocean. A significant part of that work involves investigation of the factors that control the solubility of aerosol iron and other trace metals, because solubility of trace metals is often closely related to bioavailability for marine organisms. |
