Dr François Lacan, LEGOS, France

Francois Lacan earned his PhD in marine geochemistry and hydrography at Toulouse University (France) in 2002 and performed postdoctoral research in the USA (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution), and France (LSCE). He is currently a research scientist at LEGOS (Toulouse, France). His research focuses on the use of the isotopic signatures of trace elements for understanding physical, biological and chemical processes that control element cycles in the ocean and at its boundary, and thereby oceanic chemistry and climate. His work is mainly based on analytical developments of new trace element isotope measurement techniques and explorations of these isotopic distributions (Nd, Cd and especially Fe) throughout the world ocean. He is especially interested in dissolved/particle interactions, both along the coast and in the open ocean. François is head of the Toulouse Marine Isotopy group (2011) and the Toulouse plasma source mass spectrometry facility (2012).
