Dr Frédéric Planchon - UBO/LEMAR

I am a lecturer in chemistry and marine sciences at the Université de Bretagne Occidentale (UBO) and I develop my research activities at the Laboratoire des Sciences de l’Environnement Marin (LEMAR). I consider myself as a geochemist broadly speaking with past experiences in trace metals and Pb isotopes archiving in polar ice cores as well as Mg isotope systematics in different kinds of environmental matrices such as biogenic carbonates, organic matter, and hydrothermal fluids. My main research interests are now focused on the biological carbon pump and I’m trying to implement a multiproxy approach based on conventional (234Th, biogenic excess Ba, 13C-15N-labelling, δ13C-POC, δ15N-PN) and less conventional parameters (lipid biomarkers, δ13C-fatty acids, δ13C-sterols,  δ15N-proteins, δ15N-nitrate) to study vertical fluxes of carbon along with key biogenic elements (N/P/Si) and trace metals.
